Korea Norte warned this Friday, 14 (local date), for a “stronger and determined” on its part following the US decision to impose new sanctions on high-ranking officials of the North Korean regime following the last missile test carried out this week.

In a statement from the state news agency “KNCA”, a spokesman for the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the recent test of a hypersonic missile was “an exercise of its right to self-defense” and rebuked Washington’s attitude.

“If the US adopts a confrontational position, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will be forced to have a stronger and more determined reaction,” the ministry warned.

The administration of US President Joe Biden , on Wednesday sanctioned six North Korean officials linked to the country’s weapons development program, a decision that came two days after the regime conducted the third test of a hypersonic missile, the second in less than a week.

“North Korea’s recent development of new types of weapons is just a part of its efforts to modernize its national defense capabilities,” added the North Korean spokesman, who said the launch “did not target any specific country or force and did not harm the security of neighboring countries.”

The projectile landed in the waters of the Sea of Japan, known as the Sea of East on the Korean Peninsula.

Pyongyang ranked Washington’s reaction as a “glaring provocation” and accused the country of having “a gangster logic” and of “intentionally” making the situation tense.

“This stra that, although the current US government is talking about diplomacy and dialogue, it is still absorbed in its policy of isolating and suffocating North Korea”, which “will not abandon its just right” to defend itself, the ministry added.
